Update multiple workbooks from Master Workbook

Hi,

I am just wondering anyone could supply some advice regarding Excel Macros please. Your assistance would be massively appreciated.

I am attempting to link multiple MS Excel Spreadsheets that will be located in different folders within a folder structure.

I would like to have the first three columns to contain the same data on all Excel spreadsheets. These columns will contain peoples names. Each spreadsheet will then contain different information on these people within the other columns.

When a designated master Excel spreadsheet (that runs the Macro) has an entry added or deleted it will delete the complete row from all spreadsheets.

Put into simple terms:

Every spreadsheet contains a list of names for people in our organisation. When the master spreadsheet is updated (when someone leaves or joins) all other spreadsheets are updated to reflect this. Each spreadsheet however, will contain different attributes in the other columns for those names. The complete row for that individual will need to be added or deleted when the master spreadsheet is modified.

Do you know if this is possible? Hopefully I have made it clear enough as to what I wish to achieve.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

pivot table

I'd recommend creating a pivot table of your data whereby different views are selected by the different receivers of the data... this won't work if you need to restrict access to someone's view

Nick, Firstly thanks for your

Nick, Firstly thanks for your response. I have briefly looked into pivot tables upon your advice and agree this could be a useful way of skinning this cat. However, would this mean that only one spreadsheet exists that contains all information and then each user accesses that spreadsheet and filters for what they wish to view? Ideally there would be multiple spreadsheets linked to a master pivot table and each can view the data and filter independently? Not sure if this is possible? Using a singular spreadsheet could lead to many users all wishing to modify data at once and access (version control) becoming a problem. Thanks for any advice, sorry to bug you with this one. Steve
