Automate a keying in Job

Hi,
We need to automate a number of tasks that are manually keyed daily.

We have a spreadsheet with columns headed Date, Total, UK, USA, Italy, France/ etc (a total of 15 countries).

Every day we have visits from around 100 countries. We collate visits from countries into the 15 headed categories above (these categories remain permanently fixed). We then discard the remaining countries, and save the information for that day. At the end of each month we have all our daily visits collated and we can then just manually total them up. We then give this information to the senior staff for review.

All the headed information is on sheet1, and all the new daily data is collated on sheet 2.

This will save a lot of time going forward if someone can help.

Regards

NoeBol

Automate a Keying In Job

Hi Manny,

I am really impressed with the quick response, and your file is virtually spot on with what I was looking at.

I dont know how to upload a file here, so i have taken the commenst I have just added onto your file and pasted them here.
Let me know if you require any further clarification, and I will respond tomorrow.
Notes

1 So we have a lot of countries visit (our Games app, and this is a summary lifted from Google Analytics and re-keyed) and we review these visits daily, and add them to the list, exactly as per your summary, except we do this manually
2 When we started the exercise, we started alphabetically, but then as new countries were visited and became Top countries, they were just tagged onto the end columns, we eventually need to sort by "Top Countries", but this fluctuates week by week.
3 The sort of top coubtries is separate to this exercise
4 Some weeks we will have very high visits in certain countries and low visits in others, and the opposite may happen the week after
5 The "Total" column D above is also manually re-keyed from the summary of all Google Analytics data, we are happy to continue doing this we want to automate the bulk of the re-keying

The month list you have summarised on your sheet 2 is exactly what we want the month to look like. We would simply just add totals to that and then circulate that summary with a few comments to senior staff

Each day we export the data from Google Analytics into sheet 2, and these might have (say) the top 50 countries. These numbers are then re-keyed manually against the correct country and at the end of the month the summary looks exactly like yours
Any countries that fall outside of the Top Countries list we just discard

To attach a file

Hi,

Thanks for the more detailed explanation.

To attach a file:

1) Log In;

2) Go to your forum topic -> Edit tab;

3) Into File attachments section attach your file;

4) Save your topic.

I need to know how the data looks after you get them from Google Analytics. What I mean is they are something like this:

Country Visits
Some-Country-1 12
Some-Country-2 5
Some-Country-3 18
... ...

or

Country Some-Country-1 Some-Country-2 Some-Country-3 ...
Visits 12 5 18 ...

or something else.

Of course it would be more clear if you can attach sample file which present your requirements...

Automate a keying in job

Hi,

Thanks for the very quick response.

I am a little surprised you think this is a big job, as this is what is done every day as basic admin, I am just not clever enough to automate it myself, but for you guys it will be a doddle.

Ok then, how do I request a quote, can you help with this ?

Thanks Again

RE: Automate a keying in Job

Hi,

Maybe you are right and this is a simple task, but your explanation is not clear enough (at least to me), and if you can, please edit your post and attach a sample file of your requirements.

Of what I understand, I made a simple example and probably I'm far from your need, because it is based mostly on guessing. However, download the file from the link below and tell me how close it is.

excelexperts.com/reply-forum-topic-automate-keying-job

After all of that we can find some solution for you...

Best regards.

Hi Manny, Thanks again. I

Hi Manny,
Thanks again. I have attached the draft file I use.
The input data I can manually amend, it is the re-keying that takes ages daily.

Let me know if you need any more information.

Hi,

I can not see the attached file. Are you sure you attach it?
