Excel crashing
Hi, I bought a new PC a month ago with WIndows 8 and Excel 2013. It worked fine until a couple of days ago when I started getting issues with Excel. Two issues occur regularly:
1. Excel freezes for a lengthy period of time (could be a couple of minutes) even though the underlying sheet is not large and no complex calculations are taking place
2. Excel crashes, or stops working and sometimes it is able to recover files and sometimes not.
Are these known issues / bugs with new Excel 2013 or are they Windows 8 issues or is there something I can do on my side. I don't have any Add-ins apart from the standard Excel ones (Analysis ToolPak).

Excel freezing & crashing
Excel freezing & crashing issue can be caused by several things. You can fix these issues by following methods:

Is this happening only when opening a particular file or everytime?

it happens regulary with different sheets, so it is not dependent on a specific workbook. same sheets would have worked ok a few days earlier without addition of significant new calcs.
